HOWLAND TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Residents of a Trumbull County street are on edge Tuesday after someone shot up two homes Monday morning.
One of the victims was sitting in his garage on North Road smoking a cigarette, when he heard gunshots.
“Metal flying around, gunshots and then I heard tires skirt from the car,” he said. “I had bullets flying at me, so that was definitely scary, but my girlfriend and son were inside in the living room so I was worried about their safety.”
When he called 911, the dispatcher said another house a mile down the road in Niles was shot at just about eight minutes earlier.
Both shootings happened on North Road within a few minutes of each other, but in different jurisdictions. Police in Niles and Howland are working together to try to sort out what the motive is and if they’re related.
“Well, they’re probably definitely connected, but I just don’t understand why anyone would shoot at my house, so I don’t know who it would be,” the victim said.
Right now, Howland Police think the home in their township was mistaken for an intended target in Niles, but Niles detectives say they can’t prove that yet.
No one in either of the homes was injured.
