Renada Torres charged with felonious assault Youngstown, Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown woman was sentenced to three years in jail for firing a gun at another woman during a fight between their children.

Renada Torres appeared in Mahoning County Court Judge Scott Krichbaum’s court on Tuesday. She previously pleaded guilty to a felonious assault charge, and the other charges against her were dropped.

The state and defense agreed to the sentence. Torres will be on three years of parole upon her release.

Torres was arrested in June after firing a gun near a Gluck Street home.

The victim told police that Torres came to her house with her son and another juvenile to fight her son. She said the two boys fought and Torres then pulled a black handgun from her purse and began waving it at her saying, “You ain’t gonna threaten my son,” according to a Youngstown Police report.

The woman told police she told her children to go into the house when Torres pointed the gun at her, firing a shot from about 15 feet away. The shot missed, and Torres and the two children she was with walked away.

Police said Torres was arrested near Oak Street and Early Road, and officers said she had a revolver in her purse with one spent shell casing.
