There was a fire at Red Diamond Training Range on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown Friday evening.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – There was a fire at The Training Range Inc. on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown Friday evening.

It broke out around 5:30 p.m. inside the gun range that sits next to its sister company, Red Diamond Uniform Supply.

Austintown Fire Department Chief Andy Frost said there was gun powder on the floor when sparks from a gun caught the powder on fire, sending the whole room up in flames.

No one was injured.

“The hardest part is trying to find the fire,” Frost said. “It’s a block building with a lot of insulation for sound deadening. So the hardest part is trying to get to that insulation and get to the scene of the fire at this point.”

Around 7:15 p.m., The Training Range Inc.posted this message on its Facebook page: “We have unfortunately experienced a fire at the range. As we are currently dealing with this ongoing situation, we know for sure that we will be temporarily closed to assess the damage.”
