Hubbard overcomes double-digit deficit, defeats Niles

Hubbard reeled off five consecutive touchdowns after falling behind 14-0

The Hubbard Eagles overcame an early 14-0 deficit to defeat Niles 35-21 Friday night.

HUBBARD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Hubbard Eagles overcame an early 14-0 deficit to defeat Niles 35-21 Friday night.

Niles jumped ahead early in the game when Jaylon Saunders returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown to give the Red Dragons a 7-0 lead.

Robbie Savin’s 56 yard TD later in the quarter extended that lead to 14-0.

Midway through the second quarter, Hubbard’s David Hernandez had his own INT for a TD, this one from 50 yards away to put Hubbard on the board.

The game would go into halftime tied at 14-14.

Davion Daniels’ 48 yard jaunt gave Hubbard a two score lead in the 4th, 28-14.

A Rafael Morales 6 yard touchdown put Hubbard in the driving seat, 35-14.

Niles QB Jordan Soda connected with Marlon Pearson from 6 yards out to close the gap to 35-14 with 3:19 remaining in the game.

Davion Daniels – 17 carries for 138 yards, TD
Rafael Morales – 23 carries for 116 yards, 2 TD

Robbie Savin – 19 carries for 92 yards, TD
Tre Martin – 10 receptions for 121 yards
