LIBERTY, Ohio (WKBN) – Liberty Local Schools is one of three school districts in Ohio being recognized as a national fitness champion.
Famed fitness icon Jake Steinfeld and Governor John Kasich helped open the new Don’t Quit Fitness Center Monday on the Liberty’s campus. It includes 34 pieces of equipment worth $100,000 dollars and is a timed circuit training approach.
“A decision changes everything, and when you decide to make a change in your life, that’s when change happens. That’s why these fitness centers, it’s real. It’s not a pamphlet. It’s not a photo opp. It’s a brand-new $100,000 fitness center that these kids will use for years and years to come,” said Steinfield, of the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils.
The other Ohio schools receiving new fitness centers were in Cleveland and Toledo.
Kasich also stressed the importance of staying drug-free during his visit to Liberty on Monday and made an official proclamation during the ceremony recognizing October as “DON’T QUIT! Fitness Month.” The proclamation encourages families and communities to renew their commitment to making physical activity and healthy eating a part of children’s daily lives.
“A strong body and strong mind, we pull together, and guess what, we’re going to have great lives,” he said.
