Warren Police: Man convicted of attempted murder had firearm

Police said the charges stem from an investigation into shots fired at a Warren home

George Kelly, charged with having weapons under disability.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A suspect was charged with illegally having a weapon and violating parole during an investigation into shots fired at a Warren home on Thursday.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Colonial St. around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

The victim told police multiple shots had been fired at her home and she believed the gunshots were related to an argument she had with a female acquaintance on Facebook earlier that day. She told police that the woman posted “this is what happens when you talk about me,” and she said she believed the woman’s boyfriend, George Kelly, had been the one firing the shots.

Officers went to Kelly’s home on Friday and reported finding a loaded firearm and BB gun in the home. He was arrested and charged with having weapons under disability.

Police said Kelly had a prior conviction for attempted murder out of Akron in 2007, so he was unable to own a firearm.

More charges could be forthcoming, according to the report.
