YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Barbara Franken, 72, born February 27, 1944 in Salem, OH, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 4, 2016 after a brief illness.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Virgil and Josephine “Jody” French.
Barbara was a Woodrow Wilson High School graduate and retired as an employee at GM.
On July 1, 1974, Barbara married the love of her life, her soulmate, Paul Franken. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage and between them, raised six children.
Barb and Paul’s years of marriage were full of love and romance, the likes of which is rarely seen. In recent years, after retirement, they enjoyed their time vacationing and visiting with family.
Barbara’s passion was sewing, quilting, and crafting. It was through these hobbies she made many lifelong friends. She shared with her friends her time, knowledge, and most memorably, her sense of humor.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Paul; sons, Danny (Michelle) Clark of Salem, David (Jean) Clark of Wisconsin, Rudy (Cathy) Franken of Austintown and Mark (Melody) Franken of Salem; daughters, Rebecca DiRocco of Youngstown and Karen (Ken) Chu of Austintown; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 7 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of the Valley for their care and support, specifically to nurse Sally for her comforting words and deeds.
