WARREN, Ohio – John E. Swensen passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at his home.
John was born May 6, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Arne and Bessie Engle Swensen.
A proud Veteran of the United States Army, John retired in 1993 after 25 years as a dispatcher with the Newton Falls Police Department. John also was a deputy dog warden, a Newton Falls School Bus driver and the FOP 120 Chaplain.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 700 in Howland and taught at the Kent State Police Academy.
John will be sadly missed by his daughters, Pamela Pulice and Michele Swensen both of Warren; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, the former Doris Jane Clark, whom he married November 29, 1963 in Germany and passed away May 26, 1991.
John will be laid to rest in Brookfield Cemetery next to Doris.
Memorial services will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Howland Senior Center (Howland American Legion Post 700), 8373 High St., Howland, Ohio.
