YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Douglas Elzie Richardson, Sr., 66, of Youngstown, departed this life Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 9:15 a.m.
He was born June 8, 1950, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Melvin E. and Helen Mae Humphrey Richardson.
Mr. Richardson was employed with Alta (MYCAP) Head Start for 37 years as the Transportation Manager. He also worked for 10 years for Superior Chemical Company.
He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed shooting pool, sports, house painting, antiques, cooking and making people laugh.
He was a 1968 graduate of The Rayen School, where he lettered in track.
He married Carolyn Gregory Richardson in 1982 and they renewed their vows in 2016.
Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn one son, Douglas E. (Nichelle) Richardson, Jr. of Girard; three daughters, Mrs. Nicole D. Grant of Groveport, Mississippi, Tamara D. Gregory and Ms. Teonna M. Richardson both of Youngstown; two sisters, Mrs. Debra L. Sharp and Ms. Brenda M. Richardson both of Youngstown; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two aunts, Mrs. Laura Davis of Youngstown and Mrs. Loretta Brown of Washington, DC and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bertha Cheryl Richardson; grandmother, Helen Humphrey Dukes and favorite cousin, Joseph Humphrey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church.
Calling Hours will be held one hour prior to service, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the burial will take place at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Home.
