WARREN, Ohio – Richard Ross Lytle Sr., 97, of Warren, died on Thursday evening, October 6, 2016 at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren.
Richard was born on June 21, 1919 in Dorset, Ohio a son of the late Ross and Leila (Ferber) Lytle.
Richard was drafted in the United States Navy, serving his country during WWII for 18 months. After returning home from the war, he worked as a Die Setter for Packard Electric retiring in 1982.
Richard was a handy man, who built his own home. He enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and camping.
He leaves behind his children; Carol (Jim) Workley, of Warren, Georgia Lytle, of Warren, Richard R. Lytle, Jr., of Cortland, James E. (Mary Jo) Lytle, of Cortland and Roger (Rae Lynn) Lytle, of N. Bloomfield, 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, the late Florence (Oswald) Lytle, whom he married on August 15, 1940. Florence died on November 27, 2008 after 68 wonderful years of marriage. Richard was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna McMillan and a daughter-in-law, Donna.
Family and friends may call Monday, October 10, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. Warren.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Rinehart celebrating Richard’s life.
Interment will take place at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
