Sam Accordino completed a Canfield comeback by nailing a game-winning 25-yard field goal for a 23-21 Cardinals win.

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Sam Accordino completed a Canfield comeback by nailing a game-winning 25-yard field goal for a 23-21 Cardinals win. The kick split the uprights with just 18 seconds remaining.

Canfield trailed 21-14 with less than two minutes remaining, before a 50-yard rush TD made it a one-point game.

The Cardinals then went for two, but were denied. However, they recovered an onside kick and promptly marched down to the 7-yard-line to set up Accordino’s winning kick.

Two big offensive plays from the Niles offense sparked the Red Dragons to a 21-7 lead in the third quarter.

On the first play of the game, Niles’ Robbie Savin took a hand-off 55 yards to the end zone. Tyler Srbinovich then connected with Tre Martin for an 81-yard TD pass after Canfield tied the game at 7.

Niles added to its lead in the third quarter when Srbinovich scored on a 1-yard TD run.

Canfield (5-2) will visit East in week eight. Niles (3-4) will visit Howland.
