The Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy will soon make a stop in Youngstown.
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ title prize is going to visit fans in Canton, Akron, Columbus, and Youngstown before the tour culminates in Cleveland the day before the Cavs’ 2016-17 home opener on Oct. 25 against the New York Knicks inside Quicken Loans Arena at 8 p.m.
The regional tour provides Cavs fans a free opportunity to snap a photo with the trophy, up-close and personal, using their own camera.
Its stop in Youngstown is slated for Oct. 21 inside Youngstown State’s Kilcawley Center from 3-7 p.m. The trophy will be located in the Chestnut Room.
“We are happy to celebrate winning an NBA championship with Cavs fans across the state of Ohio who have been loyal supporters of the wine & gold throughout this journey,” said Cavaliers CEO Len Komoroski. “Taking the Larry O’Brien trophy on a regional tour gives fans the opportunity to share in the excitement and thank them for being an important part of this special time in Cavaliers history.”
In each city, the trophy will arrive with an entourage of Cavs entertainment team members including in-arena host Ahmaad Crump, members of the Cavalier Girls, Scream Team and Cavs mascot Sir CC.
The Cavs will accommodate as many fans as possible in the allotted time frame at each stop on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additional details regarding each location will be released to Cavs.com as they become available.
