Tear down of downtown Youngstown building begins Friday

The road and sidewalks will be closed while work is completed

Hazel Street in downtown Youngstown will be closed for a few days while a building at 147 W. Federal St. is demolished.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Hazel Street in downtown Youngstown will be closed for a few days while a building at 147 W. Federal St. is demolished.

Friday morning, a backhoe started tearing the brick and wood section in the back of the building down.

It was built in 1910 and once housed Youngstown’s Young Men’s Hebrew Association.

The road and sidewalks will be closed while work is completed.

The front part of the building, which houses the the First Educator’s Investment Corporation, will remain standing.
