Fumbles doom Mooney in loss to Canisius

Youngstown, OH (WKBN) – The Cardinal Mooney football team fumbled the ball five times Saturday in a 31-14 loss to Canisius at Stambaugh Stadium.

The Cardinals offense had trouble gaining ground based on turnovers. All 5 fumbles were recovered by Canisius. Mooney got on the board late in the 2nd quarter on a 9 yard touchdown run from Jaylen Hewlett.

They scored again in the 3rd quarter on a one yard keeper by Antonio Page to cut the deficit to 17-14. But the Crusaders added two more touchdowns to pull away in the fourth quarter.

Mooney drops to 4-2 and travel to Warren Harding next Friday.
