Commander at Youngstown Air Reserve Station moves on to Pentagon

Col. James Dignan has commanded the 910th Airlift Wing since March 2013

Lawmakers discuss funding to support the future of the Air Reserve Station in Vienna.

VIENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – Colonel James Dignan has ended his tour of duty commanding the 910th Airlift Wing at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.

At the airbase, Dignan was in charge of 2,000 Air Force reservists as well as personnel from the Navy and Marines.

During his command, the 910th flew missions around the world, including in the Middle East.

They also helped with disaster relief and demolishing vacant houses in Youngstown.

Dignan has commanded the 910th since March 2013. He’s moving on to a job at the Pentagon.

Col. Darryl Markowski is currently the 910th Wing Vice Commander. He will serve as the interim commander until another is named.
