Police: Fatal two-vehicle crash shuts down I-80 eastbound near mile marker 4

The PSP confirmed that the driver of the car is dead, and the driver of the semi-truck is fine

Fatal I-80 accident in Mercer

MERCER COUNTY, Pa. (WKBN) – I-80 eastbound in Pennsylvania was shut down for several hours Saturday morning due to an accident involving a car and a semi-truck.

The accident was near mile marker 7, by West Middlesex, but the road was shut down starting at mile marker 4.

The eastbound lanes were reopened around 1:15 p.m.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a call around 10:30 a.m. regarding a driver trapped in his car with injuries after an accident with a semi-truck.

The PSP confirmed that the driver of the car did not survive, and the driver of the semi-truck is fine.

The man killed was Jeffrey Polichena, 68, of Ravenna.

They also stated that the man veered off the left side of the road, over-compensated when correcting himself back into the right lane, hit the guard rail and was then hit by the semi-truck.
