Hickory’s Carr shines as Big 22 contender

Cardinal Mooney Senior Jaylen Hewlett and South Range's Aniello Buzzacco also caught the attention of Sports Team 27.

The Sharon Tigers used an amazing passing display to defeat Lakeview 55-6 at Tiger Stadium.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A couple of new teams are in the State Poll this week.  Warren Harding and Warren JFK have been there each of last six weeks.  Cardinal Mooney and South Range join them in the Top Ten this week following impressive wins last Friday night.

And it should come as no surprise that those big wins came courtesy of some Big 22 Contenders.

Hickory kept its undefeated record intact, thanks to Tailback Chuck Carr.  The Hornets senior ran for 200 yards, and scored four touchdowns against state-ranked Wilmington.  He now has 101 for his career.

South Range got a big game from Junior Quarterback Aniello Buzzacco.  He threw for 160 yards, ran for 140, and accounted for five touchdowns in the Raiders 49-0 route of Crestview.

Finally, our Player of the Game from Friday night. had some big plays on high school football’s biggest stage.  Cardinal Mooney Senior Jaylen Hewlett finished with 124 yards rushing in the Cardinaly thrilling upset of Warren Harding in our Game of the Week.
