YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A tractor-trailer and other vehicles crashed on Interstate 680 in Youngstown Tuesday night.

The accident happened just before 11:30 p.m. on I-680 northbound near the Market Street exit.

A tractor-trailer jackknifed and slammed into a barrier under the Mahoning Avenue Bridge.

The crash started a chain reaction causing at least three other vehicle to wreck behind the truck.

“There was a car stopped, so we stopped in time in a close, safe distance behind him. The next thing we know, we got hit from behind,” said Jason Dirocco, of Austintown.

Youngstown police said they plan to cite the truck driver, who is from Wisconsin, with failure to control.

Officials reduced traffic in the area as crews worked to clear the scene. The highway opened up about 3 a.m.
