Liberty bounces back to post a win against Newton Falls

Liberty will play host to Girard next week.

Liberty bounced back from last week’s loss to Jefferson to defeat Newton Falls, 20-14, on the road to post their 5th win of the season. The Leopards close out their road schedule with a 3-2 mark away from home.

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WKBN) – Liberty bounced back from last week’s loss to Jefferson to defeat Newton Falls, 20-14, on the road to post their 5th win of the season. The Leopards close out their road schedule with a 3-2 mark away from home.

Despite 3 turnovers, Liberty’s ground attack gained 227 yards led by Capone Haywood (89 yards), Dra Rushton (76 yards) and Jaylen McKinney (61 yards). Rushton scored two touchdowns while McKinney opened the scoring in the second quarter with his 50-yard dash for the pylons.

Newton Falls’ Bill Wright ran for 153 yards on 34 carries (TD). Braden Bungard scored once on the ground and gained 30 yards. The Tigers lost their sixth game in a row to fall to 2-7.

Newton Falls will play at Campbell next week while the Leopards will entertain their rival-Girard.
