YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – All the cold and rain Saturday was not ideal for a tailgate — but this one was important.

People from across Youngstown joined up for the All-City tailgate at the Rayen Football Stadium. Local leaders joined alumni from the old Wilson, Rayen, Chaney, East, North and South high schools.

The alumni wanted to show an example of pride for the new East High School — and show current students their support.

“Coming out of some of the backgrounds that some of them come from, in an undeserved, underprivileged district,” Ron King, Youngstown Alumni Organizer, said, “we need to give them a better light, a better image, and more loyalty from the people that are around them every single day.”

Youngstown council members and State Rep Michele Lepore-Hagan also unveiled a new sign for East High, showing it as the Home of the Panthers, but also including the logos of the former high schools in the district.
