YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It is week ten of the high school football season.  Week eleven  is by invitation only.  By our count, eight local teams have already punched their ticket to the post season.  Five more can clinch this Friday night… and four others need a win and some help to get in.

Week ten also means the end of our Big 22 contest.  And there are some standouts that are making a late run.  Here are a few that caught the attention of Sports Team 27 last week.

We being in Western Pennsylvania, where Hickory finished its first undefeated season in school history thanks to Chuck Carr.   The Hornets senior tailback racked up 200 yards rushing and scored four touchdowns in their 54-7 in over Reynolds.

Brookfield kept its playoff hopes alive with another big night from Xavier Bailey.  The Warriors senior quarterback rushed for 185 yards and scored twice against Campbell Friday night.

LaBrae won the the conference title outright after a shootout with Girard.  Senior Tailback Arjay Oliver racked up 158 yards on the ground, and two touchdowns in the 48-42 victory.

Finally, our player of the game from Friday night… Cardinal Mooney Senior Patrick Pelini had a night to remember against Ursuline.

Pelini returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown and also punched in the go ahead touchdown.  Plus, he tallied two interceptions in Mooney’s last second win over Ursuline in our Game of the Week.
