CANFIELD, OH (WKBN) – The Canfield girls soccer team was handed its first loss of the season Tuesday night, eliminating the team from tournament play.

Canfield was defeated by North Canton Hoover, 2-1, at Canfield High School.

Canfield had several chances throughout the game but was unable to grab a lead at any point during the game.

The two teams went to halftime scoreless.

Out of the half, however, the Vikings used a corner kick that eventually fell to Rachel Somody, who flicked one past the Cardinals keeper and into the back of the net for the game’s first goal.

Hoover would double its lead a few minutes later, before Canfield was able to earn one back toward the final whistle.

Canfield finishes the season at 16-1-1.
