Minnie Walker, McDonald, Ohio – obit

McDONALD, Ohio – Minnie Walker, 85 of Pittsburgh Avenue, McDonald, Ohio, departed this life on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 7:20 a.m. at Vista At The Ridge, following an extended illness.

She was born September 18, 1931, in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of Freeman and Minnie Lee Starling Allen, Sr.

Mrs. Walker was employed with Penn Ohio Towel Supply for 20 years as a Supervisor, before retiring. She also worked at Alberini’s Restaurant as a cook.

She was a member of Valley Baptist Church, where she sang in the female choir, belonged to the Eastern Stars and enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, football, baseball and watching her sons participate in sports.

She married Hardy Benjamin Walker on December 30, 1949; he died February 11, 2003.

She leaves to mourn seven sons, David E. (Dianne) Walker of Canton, Reverend Michael (Minister Eleanora) Walker of Sumter, South Carolina, Hardy B. Walker, Jr. of Graham, North Carolina, Robert E. Walker of Youngstown, Kevin P. (Deana) Walker of Brandon, Florida, Brian Christian Walker of Graham, North Carolina and Westley E. Walker of Bryans Road, Maryland; two daughters, Ms. Norma Ford of Youngstown and Mrs. Ellen Garrett of Washington State; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ms. Martha Joffray; one sister, Ms. Louise Parkman; four brothers, John Allen, Arthur Allen, Freeman Allen, Jr. and Robert Allen.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Baptist Church.

Calling hours will be held one hour prior to service, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
