Rose Marie Derkach, Youngstown, Ohio - obit

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A Requiem Mass will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Vienna for Rose Marie Derkach who passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Oasis Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Youngstown.

Rose was born on August 28, 1918 in Campbell, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Ann Zalovchick.

Rose was raised in Campbell on Tenney Avenue and went to Reed Middle School.

She worked at Weatherbee Coates and Triangle Raincoat Company as a seamstress. Rose also worked at Strouss Department Store in the candy department and at General Fireproofing.

She attended St. John the Baptist Church, St. Cyril & Methodius Church and Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.

Rose loved her flower and vegetable gardens and cooking.

Rose is survived by her two sons, William J. (Barbara) Derkach of Texas and Kenneth Derkach of Youngstown; her sister, Ann Julius of Virginia; two grandchildren, Bradley Michael Derkach and Stacey Lyn Derkach and two nephews, Robert Julius and Greg Zalovchick.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, William Derkach, Sr. and five brothers, John, Mike, Andrew, Steve & George Zalovchick.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 30, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc. in Struthers and on Monday, October 31, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Vienna.

Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
