Trumbull County Juvenile Detention Center receives upgrades to gym

Family Court Judge Pamela Rintala says the court has an obligation to provide a good environment for troubled children

Some big upgrades are now finished at the Trumbull County Juvenile Detention Center.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Some big upgrades are now finished at the Trumbull County Juvenile Detention Center.

The courts put together more than $150,000-worth of projects in the building. Money came from state and local funds.

The project includes upgrades to the Detention Center’s gym, including new flooring, basketball hoops, portable volleyball equipment and a ping pong table.

Trumbull County Family Court Judge Pamela Rintala says the court has an obligation to provide a good environment for troubled children.

“We have to provide school, part of the school being recreation. We have to keep the kids occupied,” she said. “Most of the day, we have to have activities, so this will be a much better environment for them.”

The Detention Center currently houses about two dozen children.
