A man was shot in the stomach on East Florida Ave. in Youngstown, Ohio.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man in Youngstown was shot in the stomach after answering a knock at his door early Friday morning.

The shooting happened about 1 a.m. at a house in the 1300 block of East Florida Ave.

Leo Tirone, III, heard knocking, and when he opened the door, there were three men standing there. One of them opened fire, hitting the 55-year-old man in the stomach.

After the men took off, Tirone was able to make it next door to his daughter’s house where she called 911.

“This is an isolated incident. We haven’t had anything like this recently, where someone opened the door and he was shot,” said Youngstown Police Captain Brad Blackburn. “I can’t say whether this individual was targeted because we’re so early in the investigation.”

Tirone was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, where he was listed in stable condition. Police said Tirone is unable to communicate at this time, however.

No arrests have been, and no suspect has been identified.
