YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown prison could soon be a holding area for undocumented immigrants.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Department of Homeland Security wants to buy space at the CCA Prison on Hubbard Road.

The space would be for thousands of Haitian refugees that the department expects to cross the border illegally in the coming months.

The Northeast Ohio Correctional Facility lost its contract two years ago to house federal prisoners. Currently, it can only take in people from the U.S. Marshals.
