Michael T. Yager, Houston, Texas, formerly Canfield, Ohio - obit

HOUSTON, Texas (Formerly Canfield, Ohio) – Michael T. Yager of Houston, Texas passed away Saturday October 29, 2016 after a motorcycle accident in Ventura County, California.

Born June 29, 1990, Michael graduated at the top of his class from Canfield High School receiving awards from the National Honor Society. He also played for the Canfield High School Football team. He went on to Akron University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in nursing. After graduation, he sought a nursing position at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He advanced to a position in the intensive care unit at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center and also worked as a charge nurse. He was recently accepted to a position as a traveling nurse within the Hermann Memorial Medical System. He was enrolled at Texas Christian University’s three year nurse anesthetist doctoral program. He was intensely motivated toward higher education and creating a life for himself with purpose.

In his spare time, he kept active in weightlifting and sports, especially Notre Dame Football.

He is survived by his parents, Michael T. and Brenda S. Yager and his sister, Ashley Yager.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Michael and Anne Yager and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Carolyn Evans as well as his cousin, Caitlin Yager.

Prayers will be 9:15 a.m. Monday, November 7 at Lane Family Funeral Home, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Services at St. Christine’s Church at 10:00 a.m.

Calling hours will be at Lane Family Funeral Home on Sunday November 6, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
