GREENFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Cheerleaders at McClain High School near Dayton made a banner for a pep rally, but it’s been grabbing more attention than they planned.

The message was meant for their rivals, the Hillsboro Indians, but parents are saying the sign was racist and offensive. The message read, “Hey Indians, Get Ready for A Trail of TEARS Part 2.”

Late Friday, the school apologized for the sign on their Facebook page, only to remove it shortly thereafter.

Parents claim the post was removed after people began asking if faculty members had to approve banners or signs before their use on the field.
