Trumbull County awarded grants for revitalization

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – In a press release on Tuesday, the Ohio Development Services Agency announced it is awarding grants totaling more than $11.6 million through the Community Development Critical Infrastructure, Downtown Revitalization and Neighborhood Revitalization Competitive Set-Aside programs.

Thirty-three communities across Ohio — including Trumbull County — will receive grants to revitalize neighborhoods and downtown business districts.

Trumbull County will receive a $270,000 Critical Infrastructure grant to help Weathersfield Township replace a bridge and make street improvements. The project will benefit 2,555 people.The county also will receive a $300,000 Downtown Revitalization grant to help the village of Lowellville improve the Central Business District.  The project will help 15 business owners with rehabilitation projects, including facade improvements and code violation corrections.  The city will also improve sidewalks, streets, parks and parking in the Central Business District.

“Communities with strong business districts and neighborhoods are better positioned for growth,” said David Goodman, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency.
