YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – With less than a week to go, the candidates aren’t the only ones getting ready.

The Mahoning County Board of Elections is making sure all of its ballot scanners are up and running, and its delivering them to polling locations.

So far, about half of the county’s 70 precincts have their scanners in place.

IT Manager Chris Rakocy says you can breathe easy about your vote being counted correctly; they already have a plan in place if anything goes wrong on Election Day.

“We have protocol. We have an emergency bin where we can store them until the problem is resolved. Voting will always progress. We have paper ballots so we can store the ballots until the problem is resolved,” he said.

Just in case there are any disputes, ballots will be kept at the Board of Elections for 22 months after the election.
