Wick Park Pavilion on Youngstown's north side will be renovated.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Rotary Club of Youngstown is taking on a big project to celebrate its centennial anniversary.

Next year, the Wick Park Pavilion on the north side will be 60 years old and the club wants to renovate it.

A progress report was given Thursday night during a Wedding Soup in Wick Park event sponsored by Youngstown Cityscape.

Plans include updating the electrical system, gutter and window repairs and making the building handicap accessible.

“There’s a lot of improvements that we can make to the structure that additional generations of both visitors and folks in the neighborhood will have great memories in this park,” said Youngstown Rotarian John Slanina.

Designs still need to be made for the improvements but $350,000 has been pledged to the project, with two thirds of the money already in hand.

It is hoped work can begin next year.
