YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A lawyer for the owners of what was The Garden Café at Mill Creek Park’s Davis Center is asking for $150,000, or he’ll file a lawsuit for what he says is an “unlawful breach of their lease.”
Attorney Anthony Farris sent the letter to Mill Creek MetroParks Executive Director Aaron Young and three of the four park commissioners on behalf of café owners Patricia Tinkler and Peter Lynch.
The letter said no reason was given for termination of the lease, and called it “a wanton abuse of governmental power.”
Farris goes on to say that the reasons given for the termination were “personal, retaliatory and unrelated to park business.”
He claims Young said Tinkler and Lynch had “three strikes.” The letter said Young’s reasons for terminating the lease were:
- “Mr. Lynch had ‘liked’ a Facebook post criticizing Mr. Young”
- “Ms. Tinkler has told another person that Mr. Young’s conduct and all the controversy he generates was hurting their business and causing it to lose revenue”
- “Mr. Lynch confided to a female intern that rumors were circulating of an affair between her and a male manager”
Young was said to be the person behind getting rid of The Garden Café.
