AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – In a press release Saturday around 4 p.m., Youngstown’s Water Department lifted the boil alert for affected areas of Friday’s power outage on the west side of Youngstown and east side of Austintown

There were about 8,600 people without power in Mahoning County on Friday afternoon. Youngstown’s Water Department experienced low water pressure as a result. Power was mostly restored by 3 p.m. Friday.

Due to the low water pressure that resulted from the outage, the Youngstown Water Department recommended that all Youngstown Water customers in the affected area boil their water that is used for drinking and cooking.

However, the Water Department said in its press release on Saturday that “the water line has been repaired and microbiological drinking water samples have been taken.”

It added that the following customers were affected: “All residents contained within the boundary East of Raccoon Road, North of New Road and West of Belle Vista Avenue.”
