YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Youngstown Police Department now has some more help when it comes to solving crimes.

The department promoted three of its officers Friday from patrolmen to detective sergeants.

Michael Marciano, Michael Cox and Jerry Fulmer have all been with the Youngstown Police Department for the last 15 years.

Youngstown Police Chief Robin Lees says his department had been shorthanded when it came to solving crimes.

“This will improve our ability for supervision in the street, and in some of our investigative capacity with the Detective Division. We’ve had three vacancies now for some time, and these officers promoted today will fill those vacancies,” he said.

Chief Lees says the department will be hiring three new officers to fill the patrol spots left by these promotions.
