WARREN, Ohio – Fortune “Freddie” Tomassi, 79, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Joseph Health Center.
He was born April 2, 1937, in Collelongo, Italy, the son of the late Angelo and Viola Tomassi.
He came to Warren in 1952 and retired in 2015 from the Café 422 formerly Abruzzi Café 422 as Head Chef after 63 years.
He enjoyed cooking, putting on a Christmas eve celebration and was an avid sports fan. Freddie was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife, Gilda Tomassi who he married June 19, 1975; a son, Angelo Tomassi of Dublin; two daughters, Rose Callow of Niles and Cathy (Jason) Dye of Niles; four grandchildren, Mark Callow, M.D., Gianna, Jaren and Jaxon Dye; two brothers, Benedict “Benny” (Veronica) Tomassi of Warren and Emilio “Emil” Tomassi of Warren and a sister, Irene Tomassi of Warren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his second mother Grazia Corradi Tomassi.
Family and friends may call Thursday, November 10, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. and Friday, November 11 from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Murphy officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
