WARREN, Ohio – Sophie J. Zambelli, 84, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Lake Vista in Cortland.
She was born in Warren, Ohio on September 25, 1932, the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Szymczak.
She had previously worked for the Warren City School’s Cafeterias as an aid for five years and AVI Foodsystems commissary on the food line for five years.
Sophie was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Cortland.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crocheting and was an avid sports fan.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Marsco of Cortland; six grandchildren, Michelle Zambelli, Carl “CJ” (Stephanie) Zambelli, twins Michael and Mario Zambelli, Christopher and Lisa Marsco; two great-grandchildren, Rocco and Ella Zambelli; two sisters, Helen Plevyak of Ballwin, Missouri and Stella Principi of Columbus, Ohio and a brother-in-law, Andrew “Red” Revezzo of Warren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl F. Zambelli who she married August 26, 1950 and passed away March 29, 1991, two sons James and Thomas Zambelli and son-in-law, John A. Marsco, Jr.
Family and friends may call Monday, November 7, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 and Tuesday, November 8, 2016, from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 9, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Cortland with Rev. Carl Kish officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
