Old ‘Romper Room’ footage from 1960s resurfaces

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society's Business and Media Archives found some old footage of a Romper Room promotion.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Recently, the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Business and Media Archives found some old footage of a Romper Room promotion, which aired on WKBN-TV.

Hello boys and girls, I’m Miss Margaret, the teacher of channel 27’s daily Romper Room School. I’ll bet that when your big brother or sister goes off to school, you wish you had a special school of your very own to attend. Well you do, and the wonderful thing about it is that you can attend your school right in your own home. It’s the Romper Room and it’s on WKBN-TV every weekday morning at 9 a.m., and the Romper Room is fun, too. Because, along with me, our boys and girls, you own age, who are your classmates. We’ll have songs and games and stories and all sorts of exciting things for you to learn and to do. We’ll march in the Romper Room rhythm band and we’ll learn all about Mr. Do Bee and Mr. Don’t Bee. Be sure to ask Mother if you can have the television set tuned in every weekday morning for Romper Room School with Miss Margaret. Remember the time, 9 a.m. for Romper Room on channel 27.”

The Romper Room was syndicated all across the United States, but each station hired its own host and aired its own program.
