Canfield passes 3.9 mill levy for police department

According to the police chief, the levy passed with a 56 percent vote

The Canfield Police Department wants to pass a levy that would help it maintain the level of service.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – A 3.9 mill levy for the Canfield Police Department passed on Tuesday. The levy passed with a 56 percent vote, 888-711.

Prior to the election, Canfield PD had said the levy was desperately needed to hire more officers and update police cars.

A resident who owns a $100,000 home will pay $137 per year for the levy.

It was an issue Canfield Police campaigned for over six months, as budget cuts have taken a toll on the department for about five years now.
