Heinz Field, here comes New Castle & Geno Stone

MARS, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Some folks have a short memory. How true that was at Mars High School on Friday where New Castle — energized by a two-touchdown setback four weeks ago to Ringgold — got its revenge.

Led by Geno Stone, the Hurricanes defeated the Rams 38-17.

Stone scored five times on the ground and also intercepted a trio of tosses to secure the victory for the ‘Canes.

This season, when New Castle is able to hold their opponents to under 27 points, the ‘Canes are 7-0. When the opposition is able to score 27 or more, New Castle is 1-4.

Ringgold trailed 24-0 just five seconds into the fourth quarter. Then, after a safety and a pair of touchdown throws from George Martin to Max Maciejewski within four minutes of each other, the Rams trailed by just seven midway through the fourth quarter. However, the Rams would not be able to get any closer.

Since the Rams’ loss to Thomas Jefferson (55-14) on September 30, Ringgold had won their previous five games by a combined score of 182-105 including their week eight victory at New Castle (41-27).
