Michael Lewis Hampton, Warren, Ohio - obit

WARREN, Ohio – Michael Lewis Hampton, 60, of 449 Highland Avenue, S.W., Warren, departed this life Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1:19 a.m., following a cardiac arrest.

He was born April 21, 1956 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Richard and Ernestine Pelt Hampton.

Mr. Hampton was employed with Comprehensive Logistics for 12 years as a Sequencer. He worked for Republic Steel Corp aka LTV Steel Co. from 1974-1977.

He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians fan and was a 1974 graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School.

Mr. Hampton served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a RM3 from February 7, 1977 – December 29, 1982, receiving several honors.

He leaves to mourn one stepson, Jihad Kinlaw of Charlotte, North Carolina; his mother, Ms. Ernestine Hampton of Warren; four brothers, Jeffrey L. Hampton, Kenneth Roy Hampton and Ronald D. Hampton all of Warren and Mark A. Hampton of Cleveland; one grandchild and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Edward Lamar Matthews and Gregory Richard Hampton.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church.

Calling Hours will be held one hour prior to service (10:00-11:00 a.m.).

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at 449 Highland Avenue, S.W.

Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
