Key Returnees
Senior forwards Jillian Penman and Emily Melnak will lead the Lady Bulldogs into action. Penman averaged 5.8 points and 7 rebounds per game. Melnak scored 10.4 and hauled down 4.2 boards as a junior while shooting 32.7% from long distance (37-113). Juniors Bella Gajdos and Maggie Sebest return as well. Gajdos led the team in scoring (16.8) and assists (2.4) while shooting 34.5% (41-119) from three-point land and connecting on 82.9% of her free throws (63-76). Sebest’s numbers were almost identical with a 6.9 scoring average and 6.3 rebounds. Sophomore guard Sarah Bury contributed as a freshman as she finished with 11 points per contest and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 35% from beyond the arc (28-80).

Outlook
The Lady Bulldogs were defeated last February by eventual District Champion Lakeview Bulldogs, 42-34. Poland ended their season with 21-wins and without a senior on their roster. With lots returning this season, coach Blanch has every reason to be optimistic about this year’s group.
