TAMPA, Florida (Formerly Vienna, Ohio) – Helen L. Olson, 82, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 12:45 a.m. at the Tampa Community Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
Helen Olson was born October 15, 1934 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Paul Bahr and Adena Brunswick, of Vienna, Ohio.
Helen attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She received her registered nursing degree at College of DuPage in Naperville, Illinois in 1975. She worked as a nurse in Illinois and Florida for nearly 40 years.
Ms. Helen L. Olson was a long time Vienna, Ohio resident along with being a member of the Vienna Presbyterian Church.
Helen loved birds, especially parrots; animals and was an avid gardener.
She moved from Illinois to Florida to be with her children and continue her career in nursing.
She is survived by her three children, Teri Melone of Tampa, Florida, Scott Gegenworth of San Diego, California and Mark Gegenwarth of Naples, Florida. Helen is survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Bahr and sister, Charlotte Floyd, both lifelong residents of Ohio.
Even though our hearts are broken, we are grateful you showed us how to love the Lord, love others, and care for God’s creation. You always put others before yourself and with great compassion. Your kind, gentle heart touched us all. Jesus has been your guiding light and he has you now, until we see you again.
Funeral services for Helen L. Olson, will be on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Lane Family Funeral Homes – Madasz Chapel located at 6923 Warren-Sharon Road, Brookfield, Ohio; officiated by Reverend Doctor Richard Shipley.
Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon prior to the services at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Vienna Township Cemetery, Vienna, Ohio.
