2 Warren firefighters receive promotions

Both men have nearly 50 years of combined experience

Two firefighters in Warren were promoted Monday morning.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two firefighters in Warren were promoted Monday morning.

Randy Stelk was promoted to lieutenant and Bill Gadd to captain during a ceremony at the main fire station downtown. Both men have nearly 50 years of combined experience.

The positions were made available after some firefighters retired this year.

“You don’t just get these promotions by just being a member of the fire department. It takes years of service, a lot of study and a lot of years serving our community,” said Mayor Doug Franklin.

The city of Warren recently passed an income tax increase that paves the way to hire at least eight new firefighters in the department.
