Key Returnees
A trio of seniors will lead the way for the Eagles during the 2016-17 season in Dillon O’Hara, Kent Kroynovich and point guard Travis Kopanic (5.0 ppg, 1.5 apg, 35.7% 3PT, 78.8% FT). “All three of them bring a little something special to our team,” says coach Townsend. They’ll also be relying on a couple of key juniors who lettered last season in Nick Ferrara (4.1 ppg), Jared Southern (4.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg) and Bashar Rasoul (3.8 ppg). Sophomore Davion Daniels (6.9 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.7 apg) also is back after a strong freshman season. “The team has shown good progression throughout the summer,” Townsend stated. “We didn’t have a lot of time in which we had everyone together but the time we did was productive. They’re learning and preparing to compete and play together at what my staff and I hope it at a high-level. We had the opportunity to gain some experience playing in the Girard summer league and t our shoot-out at Lake Erie College.”

Outlook
Hubbard has not had a winning season since 2010-11 (13-8) but that doesn’t hurt coach Townsend’s view of this group of players. “I’m excited about the potential that we could have. I hope to be able to play an up tempo style and use some depth that we might have this year to make up for our lack of size on the interior. We have a lot of guys who played some valuable minutes last season and should be much more prepared this year. I’m excited about what we have and eager to get started.”
