Shepherd of the Valley dedicates parking spots to veterans

There is a Purple Heart parking space at all five Shepherd of the Valley locations

Shepherd of the Valley designated some of its parking spaces for Purple Heart veterans.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Shepherd of the Valley dedicated parking spots Tuesday in honor of Purple Heart veterans.

The special parking spaces are painted purple for veterans wounded in combat.

The parking spots are only to be used by residents, staff or community members who were wounded defending the country.

“You know, the parking spot is a prominent location so I think people will see that. It may start a dialog that may not have been there before about what it means to sacrifice,” said Herman Breuer, Purple Heart chapter commander.
