WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The last time Warren Harding reached the State Final Four was back in 2002. The Raiders were the Division One State Runner-Up that season, and they are one win away from getting back to the big stage.
Harding has won four straight, and becoming a scoring machine as the competition gets better.
The Raiders are averaging over 52 points per game in the playoffs. Quarterback Lynn Bowden has racked up over 770 all-purpose yards and accounted for 13 touchdowns over the last two games.
But Friday night, they will be tested. Hudson has been to the State Final Four each of the last 2 years.
“Their current Seniors, this will be their third consecutive Regional Championship game. So, they know how to win,” Warren Hardin Head Coach Steve Arnold said. “They know what it takes. Any time you can play in three consecutive Regional championship games, the program is doing something right. So they don’t need the rah-rah type speeches with these guys. They just need to know what we need to do, and to pay attention to detail. and that’s kinda what we talk about and we hit on every day.”
Senior Wide Receiver Marlin Richardson can’t wait to take the field in week thirteen.
“It’s real gratifying not only because we’re in week thirteen, because the fans, the city, everyone is cheering us on. We got help everywhere,” said Richardson.
Warren Harding and Hudson kickoff Friday night at 7:30 at Twinsburg High School.
