Nick Cucuras, Warren, Ohio - obit

WARREN, Ohio – Nick Cucuras, 87 passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 with his family by his side.

He was born January 30, 1929, in Lindos, Rhodes, Greece, the son of the late Kyriakos and Panagiota Cucuras.

Nick was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, he served on the Parish Council (Emeritus member and Auditor), the YASOU Club, Senior Club, AHEPA (Lifetime member of the Zeus Club #88 and AHEPAN of the year in 1999), Pan-Rhodian Society, Chios Society (Aghia Markela Chapter).

He served in the Greek Navy and the Merchant Marines.

He is survived by his two sons, Charles (Tsambika) Cucuras of Naperville, Illinois and John (Maria) Cucuras of Parkland, Florida; six grandchildren, Evangelia (Ioannis), Anastasia (Mark), Maria (Steven), Rafaelia, Nicholas and Evangelia; three great-grandchildren, Maria, Kalliopi and Maria; two sisters, Fedra Lambis, and Flora (Mike) Hatzis, both of Warren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evangelia Cucuras who he married April 20, 1958 and passed away August 26, 1992; a daughter, Chrisanthi Cucuras and a brother-in-law, Fotios Lambis.

Family and friends may call Friday, November 18 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. Trisagion service at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 and Saturday, November 19 from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 429 High St. Warren, Ohio 44481.

A service will be held Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating.
