Key Returnees
A pair of seniors lead the Indians into the 2016-17 season – Domanick Michael (11.2 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Dakota Wetzel (4.3 ppg). Michael, who started each game last season, has been described by his coach as a solid defender and someone who will shoulder the offensive load this year. “Domanick is improving his ability to create shots for himself and his teammates,” indicates coach Blatch. Wetzel was the team’s sixth man last winter. “Dakota typically closed games for us in the second half of the season,” recalls Blatch. “We knew we could rely on his energy and defense.” Jacob Joiner and Dominic Pugliano are two underclassmen who should see their roles increase this coming year. “Jacob is a talented guard, who has the potential to score and use his length to defend,” Blatch points out. “Dominic is another high-upside athlete who can shoot and handle the ball.”

Outlook
According to coach Blatch, the team lacks varsity experience but the players are competing hard for spots on the roster. “I love that there is uncertainty about our rotation,” states Blatch. “We have many comparable players, so we hope to be deeper than last year and we will practice in a way that breeds competitiveness. We must get better defensively and in team rebounding because of our lack of height.”
