SALEM, Ohio – Ethel “Dory” Caldwell, 87, formerly of Lisbon, passed away at 6:50 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Essex II of Salem.
Mrs. Caldwell was born June 3, 1929, a daughter of the late Elmer S. and Pearl (Gunther) Day, Sr. and had lived most of her life in the Lisbon and Leetonia areas.
A graduate of David Anderson High School, Dory was a homemaker and had previously attended St. Jacob’s UCC Church.
Mrs. Caldwell was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Iva Chapter 311; former member of the Washingtonville VFW and enjoyed crocheting and collecting knickknacks from yard sales.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. Elmer S. (Julie) Day, Jr. of Salem; grandchildren, Melissia (Ted) Nosek of Berlin Center and William (Christine) Stone of Lisbon; great-grandchildren, Jarod Westover, Nicole Stone, Cordelia Hartman, Seth Stone and Caden, Zoey and Avrie Nosek; niece, Durane (Scott) Duncan and great-niece, Emily (TJ) Schramm.
In addition to her parents, Dory was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Caldwell; son, William Stone and brother, Edward Day.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas DeMar officiating.
Private burial will follow at St. Jacob’s UCC Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
